Celebrating Fifty Years of Friendship!

Christian Baum

Kenta, my host brother was everything you could ask for a host brother; he is fun to be around, intelligent, caring, willing to help and had an open ear. I was happy to stay with Kenta's generous, caring family. Nishinomiya Higashi High School was a fantastic school where I've learned so much from the school and had a great time at the school festival. I'm happy to make so many friends. There's so much to see and do in and around Nishinomya, the memories I made were priceless, and finally, the people that were there will always be in my heart! I can't thank this program and everybody involved enough for everything they've done for me!
I've found that I knew very little about Japanese culture until I experienced it. Everything I've read, heard and seen did not amount to my experience of this magical culture. When I had realized that I got in, I didn't know how great of an experience this would be. At first, I only thought of it as a chance to learn Japanese. I didn't realize the adventure that would ensue! I had so much fun every day and so much to look forward to. I've learned so much Japanese, I can speak so much better than ever before. Not only that, but this trip inspired me to continue learning Japanese, and one day return to Japan! My perspective about Japanese culture and other cultures around the world has changed so much. I truly believe that this is the exchange of a lifetime. I'm glad that I am a part of this program.
Below are some pictures of my exchange.
