Celebrating Fifty Years of Friendship!

Riley Mathis

My experience in Japan and assimilation into the Inoue family and the Japanese community impacted my life by allowing me to create special bonds with people on the other side of the globe once again. It amazes me that people, especially students, from America and Japan have so much in common yet are entirely different. It was such a great opportunity to experience the customs and outlook on the world of such a unique culture. This trip increased my ability to communicate, however, it also showed me that I definitely want to continue my studies in the Japanese language and culture. Living in Nishinomiya has further inspired me to continue my travels and to continue immersing myself into cultures that are foreign to my own. I have assured my Japanese family that I am destined to return, probably via study abroad in college.

Below are some of my photos from Japan.
